OLIVET HIGH SCHOOL PARENT NEWSLETTER
Randal Van Dyke, Principal
15 December 2008
Olivet High School Mission Statement: To create a positive, proud, comfortable place where students choose to develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed within school and throughout life.
Attached is your student’s progress report. You receive three of these reports per semester, culminating in a report card at the end of the semester. Remember: Progress reports are only indicators of student’s academic performance thus far in the school year. The report card reflects the final grade, which is a compilation of all their work over the course of the semester, combined with their final exam grade, which is 20% of their final grade.
Holiday Happenings
Over the past week the students and staff at Olivet High School have been busy collecting foodstuffs and money to support those in need for the holidays. All food collected will be delivered to Fern Persons Elementary for the Good Neighbor baskets. The coins collected will be used to purchase additional foodstuffs for the baskets also. The high school staff and faculty have elected to collect money to purchase clothing and hygiene items to have on hand to provide to students on an as needed basis. The National Honor Society provided gifts for selected families for their annual Christmas “Adopt A Family” project. In summary, the student body, staff and faculty have all focused on providing to those in need over the holiday season and continue to promote an atmosphere of caring and giving.
CACC & Math/Science Center Students
Classes at CACC & BCAMSC will resume on January 5th – all CACC & BCAMSC busses will be departing and returning at normal times.
